Sarah Abdullah is a children’s author, Arabic poet, translator, and content creator based in the UAE. She currently has six published children’s books with Kalimat Group and Kiwi Publishing: صديقي أحمر، كم تشبهني، ذكرى للبيع، مصنع الأحلام The Dream Factory and My Friend Red. Her book كم تشبهني was selected for the 2024 BRAW Amazing Bookshelf by the BolognaRagazzi Awards at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. Her book صديقي أحمر (My Friend Red) has travelled across languages, with editions in Arabic, Turkish, and English. Sarah has also translated four additional children’s books into Arabic and English. In 2022, Sarah was selected as one of the winners of the First Chapter Writers’ Fellowship, organised by the Emirates Literature Foundation in partnership with Seddiqi Holding, for her debut novel. She led the Arabic workshops and Arabic editorial work for "We Are The Ocean", an anthology developed for COP28 in collaboration with the Emirates Literature Foundation and the University of Exeter. Sarah also serves on the judging panel for the Emirates Literature Foundation and Emirates NBD’s "Poetry for All" competition. She is the founder of Makooky, a platform dedicated to Arabic children’s content, through which she wrote more than 50 original children’s songs and stories. Over the past 20 years, Sarah has written animated episodes for digital platforms, songs for educational institutions, and scripts for advertising campaigns, with a continuing focus on creating imaginative and engaging content for young Arabic-speaking audiences.
