Rucha Daryani

Rucha Daryani is a Dubai based writer and the founder of The Second Act, a movement about what happens after a major life disruption.

In 2024, at 38, she had a brain stroke following a medical error. She had two young children, a business, and a life running at full speed. What followed taught her that the hardest part is rarely the crisis itself. It is the long, largely unsupported period afterwards, when the appointments thin out and everyone assumes you are fine because you look fine.

Her debut picture book, The Light Never Left, publishing in October 2026, came directly out of that experience. Watching her own children, then nine and five, try to make sense of a home that had changed overnight, she realised how little exists for them. They were not only adjusting to something difficult. They were convinced they were the only ones it had ever happened to.

The book is for any child living through a shift in home dynamics. A parent's illness, a separation, a period of depression, or any change that makes home feel unfamiliar. It does not explain the change away. It sits alongside the child while it happens.

She is keen to bring the book into schools, libraries and community readings, and to work with educators and families on how to open these conversations with children rather than protect them from them.

Before founding The Second Act, Rucha studied at Lancaster University and the University of Manchester, and worked in talent management in India and marketing in Dubai.
