Maheen Zeeshan is a UAE-based primary teacher, published children’s author, literacy advocate, and community organiser whose work brings together education, storytelling, creativity, and meaningful human connection. Alongside an MBA in Marketing, she holds a Master of Education in Teacher Leadership from Sharjah Education Academy. She is the author of Talha and Aminah Tales, a collection of engaging stories centred on positive values, and The SpaceMan, inspired by UAE astronaut Dr Sultan Al Neyadi and the excitement of space exploration. Drawing on her classroom experience, Maheen writes stories that speak to children’s curiosity and help them see reading as an adventure rather than simply a school task. A highlight of her author journey was participating in the Fujairah Children’s Book Festival in 2025, where she connected with young readers and celebrated the joy of children’s literature. She has also conducted numerous on-campus reading and storytelling sessions, using expression, discussion, role-play, songs, and audience participation to bring books to life. Her ability to connect naturally with children makes her sessions warm, energetic, and memorable. Beyond teaching and writing books, Maheen contributes articles to a local magazine, sharing her perspectives on education, family, community, and life in the UAE. She also leads an active expatriate community group and a literature club, creating welcoming spaces where people can connect through books, conversations, cultural activities, and shared experiences. During school visits and literary events, Maheen does far more than read aloud. She invites children to imagine, question, perform, create characters, share ideas, and discover their own voices as storytellers. Her sessions can be adapted for different age groups and may include interactive storytelling, creative-writing activities, values-based discussions, space-themed learning, and opportunities for children to become part of the story. At the heart of Maheen’s work is the belief that every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and inspired. Whether she is teaching, writing, speaking at a festival, or leading a community initiative, her aim is to leave children feeling more confident, curious, and excited about the world of books.
