Maha Alkhalawi

As an experienced graphic designer, artist and storyteller, Maha writes and illustrates Arabic children's books that enrich the imagination while creating a common language that provides children with tools for better emotional development and self-expression. She is blessed with a rich cultural background that greatly influenced her views on life and enabled her to express her voice through storytelling for children. Her first foray into children's books was through illustrating for author Hadeel Abbassi in 2006 for her picture book "Ara Biqalbi" (I see with my heart). She then spent fifteen years in the creative industries. This enabled Maha to better hone her storytelling skills, learning how to break down complex topics into simpler ideas. The Life Kit series, or عدة الحياة, currently consists of three books: My Secret World ( عالمي السري), Power Goggles (عدسات القوة) and My Ball of Light (كرتي المضيئة), all published in 2022 in the UAE, under The Dreamwork Collective. More recently, she has a co-authored Arabic chapter book published titled "Leith wa Heila" under مؤسسة ربع قرن, Rub' Qarn Foundation in Sharjah. It's a fun sci-fi adventure that takes place in the UAE.
